Mission Arcade is a guerrilla party that incorporates live performance, gaming, game aesthetic, sing-alongs, dancing, and art installations into a single evening. Since 2007, Mission Arcade has existed in several forms in numerous venues including the Hawaii International Film Festival, The San Francisco Exploratorium and Hana House in Brooklyn, NY. Mission Arcade also sprouted spontaneously on a few streets in San Francisco, including Castro Street to celebrate the overturning of the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013.
In 2016, the Center for Asian American Media and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco collaborated to bring Mission Arcade to be a component of TAKEOVER, A Celebration of the Movies and Music of H.P. Mendoza. The San Francisco Asian Art Museum has since made Mendoza's site specific video game, Super Museum Hunt, a permanent asset and can be played now at the museum!
The most recent Mission Arcade (“Attack, Decay, Release”) occurred on July 1 at the San Francisco Exploratorium featuring Mammoth Life’s Dan Staublin, Largesse’s Seng Chen, vocalist Carolyn Oliss and Anna Ishida from I Am a Ghost. “Attack, Decay, Release” is scheduled to travel to New York, Colorado and then back to San Francisco, so keep your eyes peeled!
The next few Mission Arcades are already being planned and staged in mutiple cities. Where will the next Mission Arcade be? Find out more by following us at http://www.twitter.com/missionarcade
